Elite Eight: Voting complete!
Voting in the Elite Eight Round has now ended! The Elite Eight Round featured four of the closest matches in the entire competition, with three of the four divisional championships decided by a margin of 8% or less. Here are the results:
Classic Rock Division:
The #9 Allman Brothers Band ended their underdog run by losing in a close match to the #3 Grateful Dead. The Dead, in turn, knocked off Santana, the Cars, and the Eagles to advance to the Final Four.
Indie/Grunge/New Wave Division:
R.E.M. is still the only #1 seed still remaining in the competition after a buzzer-beater win againt the #3 Talking Heads. It was so close that the mighty men of Athens, GA beat David Byrne and company by only five votes!
Funk/R&B/Blues Division:
#4 Prince and the Revolution posted their most convincing win of the tournament against #3 Earth, Wind and Fire. Next up: The epic battle between R&B and Hard Rock against the formidable Van Halen.
Punk/Hard Rock Division:
#$ Van Halen advances to the Final Four after a squaker against #3 Aerosmith, with only a 4% margin separating the two hard rock heavyweights.
